Grant Funding Available to SE High Schools
The Southeast Coalition for Roadway Safety is offering grant funding to Southeast region high schools that choose student lock-in events for Project Prom or Graduation. Grants can include reimbursement of expenses for event location rental, food, entertainment and door prizes. Qualifying schools will receive $200 each for one of these special event nights.

Studies show there’s a prom-to-graduation corridor, when hundreds of students across the country are going to get into terrible car accidents and suffer serious physical and emotional consequences. While most traffic accidents are alcohol related, teens who aren’t drinking are still at risk if they’re on the road. Supervised prom and graduation events help provide a safe environment for students to celebrate their special event nights with good memories of friends and fun, not marred by senseless tragedies from possible drinking and driving accidents.

These applications must contain an agenda for the school's lock-in, and include the action plan for a presentation or activity addressing highway safety issues for your students. Applications will be accepted through March 8 and include instructions for submitting.

BUCKLE BUDDY
Once upon a time, there was a young dragon named Buddy. He was full of energy and loved to laugh and play! Day after day Buddy would play at his house until it was time to pick up his big sister after school.

One day when Buddy and his mom were almost at the school, another driver accidentally ran into the back of their car! Buddy learned a very good lesson that day and decided to share the lesson with other people.
